During its meeting Monday, Feb. 23, the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education hired Dr. Ashley Klein as the next principal of Skyline Elementary School.

She will replace Kelly McFatrich, who announced her retirement effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year.

Dr. Klein started her career in education as a teacher at Parkview Elementary in 2011. She became an instructional coach at Parkview in 2018, then moved to the Warrensburg R-6 School District, where she has been assistant principal at Maple Grove Elementary since 2021.

She earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in early childhood and elementary education in 2010 at the University of Central Missouri. She completed a master’s degree in literacy education in 2013 from UCM, and her doctorate in instructional leadership (2021) and an education specialist degree in elementary administration (2022) from Lindenwood University.

During her time as assistant principal at Maple Grove Elementary, Dr. Klein has focused on fostering a positive school culture, building strong relationships with families, and supporting academic excellence for all students.

McFatrich has led Skyline Elementary for two decades and leaves a legacy of high-level education in a safe and trusting environment.

Dr. Klein understands McFatrich’s impact on Skyline’s students and community. “I am incredibly honored and excited to have the opportunity to lead Skyline Elementary,” Dr. Klein said. “I look forward to working alongside our students, families, and staff, and I am grateful for the opportunity to follow and build upon Mrs. McFatrich’s legacy."

Dr. Klein resides in Green Ridge with her husband, Joe, and their three children — Jackson, Madeline and Abigail.
