Steak 'N' Shake will not be reopening in the recently renovated Elliott Student Union at the University of Central Missouri. Instead, the University and it's dining services provider Sodexo will be introducing a new dining concept called CRU5H (pronounced crush) opening in April 2020.

The university is describing CRU5H in the following way:

"Its unique name with numeral '5' represents all the things that this dining establishment stands for: 5-star quality, a selection of $5 meals, 5 menu categories including custom grill sandwiches, breakfast all day, appetizers, build-to-order fresh Mex and desserts. Whether it’s a shake, smoothie, spicy wings, nachos or a “Bacon Me Crazy” with ingredients that include a choice of eggs, sugar-glazed and smoky bacon, caramelized onions, and citrus garlic aioli, CRU5H offers an innovative, affordable and memorable dining experience."

The university also says CRU5H will offer both indoor and outdoor seating and will have late night hours. While the restaurant won't officially be opening until April, the university says Sodexo will make some of the menu items available as early as January in the Elliott Student Union Central Courte.

While I'm sure some will miss Steak 'N' Shake's iconic shakes, steak burgers and vanilla and cherry cokes, it sounds like there will be some tasty items available at the new restaurant. And a place close to campus to grab that late night snack when you get a case of the munchies.
