No Service Disconnections for Evergy Customers Until May 3
Evergy will continue their moratorium on disconnecting residential and small business customers behind on their electric bills through May 2. This is due to current and new pandemic related assistance opportunities available for customers who need the help.
“Evergy is extending our moratorium on disconnects as new assistance is coming available for customers affected by the pandemic,” said Chuck Caisley, Evergy senior vice president and chief customer officer in a statement. “Over the last year, some customers may have accumulated a high past-due balance, and emergency assistance funds could help them reduce balances owed. We encourage customers to seek assistance now as funding is limited and will expire this year.”
Evergy has a list of some of these emergency assistance funds and programs on their website here. There are links to the Missouri Department of Social Services Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Information that can connect you to the United Way which can help you find assistance programs. Evergy's Economic Relief Pilot Program with the Salvation Army and an MHDC program for renters.
