The application for the Missouri Health Professions Consortium’s (MHPC) Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program offered by State Fair Community College is now available. Application deadline is May 31, 2018.

The Missouri Health Professions Consortium OTA one-plus-one program combines general education, professional-level coursework, laboratory practice, and clinical fieldwork. Students are required to take general education prerequisite courses before beginning year two of the program that starts January 2019.

The program prepares students to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) after meeting certification and state licensure standards. To succeed in this field, students need social perceptiveness; active learning and listening skills; the ability to organize, plan and prioritize work; compassion for others; and the ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, balancing and stooping.

Admission is competitive and class size is limited. Applicants must apply both to SFCC and to the program and meet certain requirements. Additional information and the OTA application are available at www.sfccmo.edu/occupational-therapy-assistant. There is no cost to apply.
