Police in south-central Missouri are investigating the stabbing death of a man in the town of Houston.

Television station KYTV reports that officer were called to a house in the town of about 2,500 just around 1 a.m. Wednesday and found the body of 30-year-old Billy Hayes Jr.

The Houston Police Department said Hayes had suffered multiple stab wounds. Police say one man has been arrested in the case.

Houston Police Chief Brad Evans says Hayes' death marked the city's first homicide since 1998.
