A volunteer will be on-hand at the Sedalia Senior Center to assist seniors in applying for the Missouri Property Tax Credit this tax season.

People 60 and older are eligible for the free assistance with “Circuit Breaker” Missouri Property Tax Credit applications. Missouri's Circuit Breaker Program is a state tax credit for low-income seniors and certain disabled persons. A credit of up to $750 for renters and $1,100 for homeowners may offset a portion of the rent or property taxes that are paid during the year.

The volunteer service will be offered on Monday and Thursday mornings, from 8:00 – 11:30.

Residents applying for the tax credit, are asked to provide a receipt for paid property taxes or a receipt for total rent that was paid. The property tax rebate may be retroactively applied for three years.

To schedule an appointment at the Sedalia Senior Center, call 826-0713.

The Sedalia Senior Center is located at 312 South Washington Avenue. The service is provided by Care Connection for Aging Services.
