Sacred Heart-La Monte Beats Boonville, 4-3, in OT
Sacred Heart with La Monte kicked off their girls soccer season Tuesday, hosting the Boonville Lady Pirates at Clover Dell Park.
The Lady Gremlins started off slow, going down 0-2 in the first 15 minutes but were able to fight back with two goals from Joleen Frost. The Gremlins went into the half tied 2-2.
In the second half, Boonville struck first with a quick goal in the first 10 minutes.
Sacred Heart with La Monte kept fighting and tightened up on the defensive end while continuing to pressure on the attack.
The Lady Gremlins were able to find the back of the net from a Ebrinn Cahill strike. The game finished with a regular time finish of 3-3.
An exhausted Gremlin squad went into overtime, running on fumes but refused to quit. With no score in the first period of overtime, Sacred Heart with La Monte kept the pressure on and were able to force Boonville into its own goal for a 1-0 start to the season.
Sacred Heart with La Monte's next action comes Monday, March 31 against the California Pintos (1-0) at Clover Dell Park. The Lady Grems travel to Blair Oaks April 2.
