Sacred Heart rebounded from a tough loss to the #1 ranked St. Paul Saints with a dominant 5-0 victory over Class 2 Ewing Kauffman High School with University Academy Charter on Friday night.

Juan Fernandez began the scoring at the sixth minute, receiving a beautiful head ball from Lucas Martin. Fernandez broke away from the defense and dribbled past the keeper for the first goal of the night.

Jose Angel scored his second goal of the season just three minutes later off an assist from Rio Suzuki. The Gemlins struggled to take advantage of the wind for the remainder of the second half, but the Gremlin defense held strong.

The second half saw an improvement in possession and direction of attack for the Gremlins. Juan Fernandez scored unassisted, beating two Ewing Kauffman defenders off the edge. The Gremlin's finished the night by scoring two penalty kicks. Lucas Martin and Juan Pablo Suarez each successfully beat the keeper from the PK spot.

With the shutout, Junior GK Dallin Chappell has now surrendered only 16 goals in 17 games. The back line of Jude Rollings, Juan Pablo Suarez, Jude Jenkins and John Ulbrich continues to be incredibly effective, said head coach Sam Jones.

Ewing Kauffman is now 4-4.

Sacred Heart (13-7) travels to play Smithton (13-6-1) on Tuesday evening, starting at 5:30.
