The Sacred Heart Swim Team competed Thursday night in the West Central Conference Swim Meet at the Sedalia Middle School Pool, earning a combined nine medals.

Starting the night was Allie Ferguson in the 200 meter individual medley. Allie took third place out of 11, and set a personal record cutting two seconds off her time.

In the 50 Freestyle, Kate Carney placed third out of 18.

In the 100 freestyle, Kate claimed second place out of 18 swimmers.

In the 500 free, Arly Ponce took third place in an eight-woman race.

In the 100 breaststroke, Arly achieved the team’s only first place finish, in a field of 15 swimmers.

Maia Smith set a personal record in the 100 breaststroke, cutting five seconds of her time.

In the 100 backstroke, Allie Ferguson took third place out of 11 swimmers, and set her second personal record of the night, cutting a half second off her time.

The Sacred Heart Freestyle Relay Team took third out of seven teams, again scoring low enough for state consideration, keeping them in state ranking.

Sacred Heart’s next meet is Wednesday, Jan. 29 in Belton, according to head swim coach Patti Hegger.
