Sacred Heart stayed in it until the end, but Tipton pulled away late in an 8-1 victory on Thursday at home.

The game was tied at one with Tipton batting in the top of the seventh when Tipton doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. The Gremlins struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Tipton, giving up eight runs.

Emma Schouten led things off in the circle for Sacred Heart. Schouten went seven innings, allowing eight runs on 11 hits, striking out 12 and walking zero.

Emma Siron, Schouten, Veronica Vanegas, Karen Cisneros and Keely Elwell each collected one hit to lead Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart is now 7-4.

Tipton is now 2-10.

The Lady Grems travel to Windsor (8-5) today.


 

Sacred Heart JV Holds Off Tipton For Victory

Despite seeing its eight-run lead whittled down by the end, Sacred Heart JV still held off Tipton for an 8-7 victory on Thursday. Sacred Heart got things moving in the first inning, when Brooke Epple doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Keely Elwell was the winning pitcher for Sacred Heart Gremlin Softball 2021 JV. Elwell went four innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out six.

The Lady Gremlins racked up 10 hits. Zoe Martin, Kiley Beykirch and Karen Cisneros each had multiple hits for Sacred Heart. Cisneros, Beykirch and Martin each managed two hits to lead Sacred Heart. Sammy Altena had the most defensive chances in the field with six.
