The City of Sedalia and the Missouri Department of Transportation will honor Scott Joplin with a pair of signs on U.S. Highway 50.

The signs will be unveiled and dedicated on Saturday, November 5th, at 10 a.m. at an indoor venue, since it may be cold and/or wet.

According to a media release, everyone will gather at the Liberty Center, in Downtown Sedalia, to see the new sign. There will be remarks by local officials, and ragtime pianist, Jeff Barnhart will play the The Maple Leaf Rag, the musical arrangement that started it all, over 100 years ago. Refreshments will be served following the remarks.

The following Monday, November 7th, MoDOT will collect the signs from the Liberty Center and get them installed near the intersection of 50 and Limit to mark the west end, and near Air Center Drive on the east end.
