The Military Affairs Committee of the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce hosted Whiteman Air Force Base airmen at a breakfast held Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 916 Thompson Blvd.

The featured speaker was Col. Keith Butler, 509th Bomb Wing Commander. He was introduced by Daniel Avegalio, who moderated the event.

Col. Butler gave an update on the readiness of Whiteman, the eventual transition from the B-2 to the B-21 (Whiteman will be either the second or third Air Force Base to house the new B-21 stealth aircraft) and how important the Sedalia community is to the Whiteman mission.

That was followed by a presentation by Capt. Franz, 509th Maintenance Support Group.

And finally, Lt. Col. Addington gave attendees an update on the 509th Security Forces at Whiteman.

WAFB will host “Wings Over Whiteman” air show July 13-14. The public is invited to attend this free show, either day, or both days. Gates are open 9-4.
