An items on the Sedalia City Council agenda Monday night (Oct. 21) would have repealed ordinances 8728 and 9429 by changing the two-way stop at West 10th Street and Winchester Drive into a four-way stop. By a vote of five to three, the ordinance was defeated and the 2-way stop will remain at that intersection.

This was another one of those issues that brought large crowds to past council meetings to lobby either for or against the change. Some members of the council sited the Traffic Commission’s findings on the matter that said the intersection did not meet the criteria for a 4-way stop as their reason for voting against the change. The three votes for the change were 1st ward councilwomen Jo-Lynn Turley, and 2nd ward Becca LaStrada, and 4th ward councilman Tollie Roe.

After the council meeting KSIS had the opportunity to talk to Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn about the issue.
