Here are your Sedalia Police and Pettis County Sheriff's crime reports for September 18, 2012.

53-year-old Lincoln man arrested for sexual misconduct

Just before 8:00 Monday morning, Sedalia police were dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West 16th on a suspect who reportedly exposed himself inside the business. Police located and arrested 53-year-old Richard Allen Johnston of Lincoln. At the time of the police report Johnston was in the Pettis County jail on 24-hour hold pending charges of sexual misconduct 3rd degree.

 

Traffic stop for stolen plates results in arrest for a Mora woman

At 5:00 Monday evening, Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle with stolen plates at Broadway and New York. According to the police report, the female driver attempted to give the officers a false name and birth date. After she was identified as 27-year-old April Anderson of Mora, it was found that she was wanted on a warrant out of Clayton Georgia. At the time of the police report, Anderson was being held on 24-hour hold pending application of a warrant as a fugitive from justice. The report states the vehicle displaying the stolen plates belonged to a passenger who was said to have no idea how the plates got on the vehicle. The plates were returned to the owner.

 

Jr. High Student reports seeing an intoxicated person with a pistol on his walk to school

A student of Smith Cotton Jr. High School was walking to school around 6:45 this morning when he saw a man who appeared intoxicated take a pistol from his waistband and point it at the ground. The suspect had not been located at the time of the police report.

 

19-year-old male arrested on drug related charges early this morning

Just after midnight this morning, Sedalia police conducted a check on a vehicle parked in an alley near 6th and Osage with an occupant inside. Following an investigation, 19-year-old Jorge Esquivel was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Pettis County jail, and placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges.

 

Warrant check nets a 31-year-old Sedalia man with a felony warrant

At 10:50 this morning, Sedalia police conducted a warrant check at a residence in the 1200 block of West 11th. Arrested at the residence was 31-year-old Rodney Ballow of Sedalia. At the time of the police report, Ballow was in the Pettis County Jail pending a $3500 bond on a felony warrant.

 

At 8:21 Monday night, Sedalia police arrested Kyla Potter on warrants out of Sedalia, Saline County and Johnson County. Bond was set at $900.

An employee of KCP&L reported a dog had bitten him as he read a meter in the 1700 block of East 4th. The dog reportedly belonged to the owner of the property. No other information was available at news time.

A female victim in the 1000 block of East 9th reported she had been scammed on the internet. According to the report she sent $2000 to pay for a vehicle she bought on Craigslist and never received the vehicle.

On Monday morning, a camper on the fairgrounds reported someone stole his bike from the site overnight. The bike was valued at $100 and there were no suspects.

On Sunday Pettis County sheriff’s Deputies along with the Pettis County Fire Department responded to the area of Forest Park Road east of South Grand on a trash fire.  After the fire was extinguished, the remains of a meth lab were discovered.  Deputies seized the lab, and gathered evidence for an investigation.

On Sunday, Pettis County Deputies investigated a report of medication being stolen from a vehicle in the 300 block of Brooking Park Ave. According to the report the victim told Deputies that sometime overnight someone took prescription medication from the glove box of his vehicle. There were no suspects at news time.
