Sedalia Police arrested a woman who left the scene of an accident on Sunday night. 20-year-old Kelsey Nicole Chalfant of Sedalia was charged with DWI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and leaving the scene of an accident Sunday night around 9:45 p.m. at 9th and Moniteau. Chalfant was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released.
Sedalia Police arrested two individuals after responding to a burglary at BBQ Pit Stop, 1022 Thompson Blvd., on Sunday. According to a report, police responded to BBQ Pit Stop at 3:32 a.m. Sunday morning and noticed a window was broken. A suspect vehicle was soon spotted in the area and stopped for questioning. 18-year-old Alex Charles Matz and a juvenile were both arrested. Matz was charged with 2nd degree burglary and 2nd degree property damage. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail. The juvenile was released to a parent.
A Sedalia man faces 13 charges after Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance in the 1300 block of South Carr on Sunday night. Jay John allegedly attempted to stab several people, according to a report. He was located at a nearby residence and arrested after fighting with officers around 8:15 p.m. John faces four counts of 1st degree assault, four counts of unlawful use of a weapon, four counts of armed criminal action and one count of resisting arrest.
33-year-old Erin R. Durrill of Sedalia was arrested on a Pettis County warrant Saturday night in the 1600 block of West Broadway. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $230 cash bond.
Sedalia Police responded to WalMart, 3201 West Broadway, around 7:30 p.m. Sunday after a man threatened to kill a customer. 45-year-old Kenneth Weiderhold, III, of Arkansas, was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending the formal filing of charges of 1st degree harassment.
On Sunday night, 55-year-old Tricia A. Claghorn was arrested on a Webster County warrant for a probation and parole violation near 16th and Thompson. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail.
Sedalia Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1900 block of South Park just after 8 p.m. Sunday night. A suspect was seen running out the back door of the residence upon arrival. 33-year-old Charles Troy Shaver was taken into custody and charged with 2nd degree domestic assault, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer found a small quantity of marijuana in the back seat of his patrol car after Shaver was taken to the Pettis County Jail. Therefore he was also charged with tampering with physical evidence.
Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a red Dodge Neon that failed to stop at a stop sign at 16th and Grand on Saturday night around 11:30 p.m. A computer check revealed that 18-year-old Jazzmyn Javonah Clark was wanted on a Municipal warrant. Clark was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $60 cash bond. He now has an Aug. 7 court date.
Sedalia Police conducted a car stop at Broadway and Quincy after the driver failed to maintain his lane Saturday night around 8:45 p.m. A computer check revealed that 28-year-old Derrick James Seeley was wanted on a Benton County warrant. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was released.
Sedalia Police conducted a car stop on Monday morning around 10:18 a.m. on a Cadillac CTS after the patrolman passed by the vehicle at 12th and Kentucky and noticed the odor of marijuana. 30-year-old Anthony Lamar Melton was issued a Municipal summons and released. He now has an Aug. 7 court date.
