Wednesday evening, Sedalia Police observed a male subject walking in the roadway on North Prospect at West Johnson. Officers stopped the subject and placed him under arrest. The suspect, Gary A. McKinsey Jr, 20, of Sedalia, was found to be in possession of a large amount of pills, a firearm, and a large amount of cash. McKinsey was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Distributing/Delivering/Manufacture of a Dangerous Non Narcotic Drug and Possession of Dangerous Drugs.


 

Thursday evening, Sedalia Police responded to the Asia Buffet in the 3400 block of West Broadway for a report of a vehicle on fire. The driver of the vehicle said it started to smoke while she was driving on West Broadway, so she pulled over. When she stopped, flames began to engulf the vehicle from the undercarriage. No one was injured during the incident.


 

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of East 3rd for a disturbance Thursday night. Through an investigation, it was determined there was physical contact, but a primary aggressor could not be determined. The incident was put in as a 12 hour log.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 1400 block of South Park for report of a hit and run accident. A vehicle struck the attached garage of a house and caused an estimated $1,000 in damages Wednesday morning. The suspect vehicle was later located in the 700 block of South Grand. The suspect was identified as Gunnar A. Zaremba, 17, of Sedalia and arrested. Zaremba was booked and released for Leaving the Scene of an Accident.


 

Wednesday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 5th and South Montgomery for a license violation. The driver of the vehicle was found to have a suspended driver's license. The suspect, who was not named in the report, was arrested and released from the scene with charges pending for Driving While Suspended.

Officers observed a subject walking on the railroad tracks near Industrial Boulevard Thursday evening. As the Officer approached the subject, he advised that he should not be walking on the tracks. The subject acknowledged the directive, but continued to walk on the tracks. The Officer then asked for the subject's identification, and the subject began to run. The subject, Cal Avery Childers, 38, Homeless, was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and transported to the Pettis County Jail. A request for charges of Trespassing and Resisting Arrest have been submitted to the Prosecutor.


 

Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West 5th for a report of a missing elderly male. Officers made contact with the caller, Edith Didier, who stated that her husband, Tony Didier, walked away from their house. Didier said that Tony suffers from dementia and doesn't really know where he is all the time. Due to the circumstances of the call, a Silver Alert was issued on the subject. He was later reunited with his wife.


 

Sedalia Police took a report at the Police Station lobby Wednesday evening. A woman came to report she found a debit card near Valiant Pawn, in the 700 block of East Broadway. Officers took possession of the card and placed it into evidence for safekeeping.


 

Officers were dispatched to a theft report Thursday morning. The theft occurred in the 1000 block of State Fair Boulevard. Clifford Hutler stated that sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, his front license plate had been stolen. The plate was entered into MULES and NCIC as two license plates stolen.


 

Thursday morning, Sedalia Police took a report in the lobby of the Police Department in regards to a stolen debit card, which was used for several purchases. Katelynn Michele Medrano reported that the debit card had been used to purchase $467.60 worth of merchandise. The investigation is ongoing.


 

Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Ohio in reference to found property. The caller said there were three Visa Debit Cards found outside of the business. The cards were taken to the Police Department and entered into safekeeping.


 

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 10th in reference to a theft report Wednesday afternoon. Brittany Johnson stated her child's bike was stolen off their back porch sometime after 10 p.m. the night before.


 

Sedalia Police were called to the 1300 block of South Prospect on a claim of Assault. Thursday morning, the victim and the suspect got into an argument. The suspect threw a set of keys and another item toward the victim, striking the victim in the leg. The victim had welt marks on her leg in about four to five different places. The victim requested charges be pressed. The suspect, Rodney Demarcus Jackson, came to the station have pictures of his injuries and write a statement. Jackson was issued a Municipal Court Summons for Assault.

Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Cenex gas station in the 100 block of East 16th in reference to an attempted robbery at gunpoint. The suspect was described as a slender white male in early 20s with short, light brown hair, a white t-shirt, blue jeans, white Nike sneakers. The suspect left the store on foot to the South. The clerk was not injured in the incident. The case is under investigation.
