Sacred Heart Church in Sedalia will be the site of the Sedalia Symphony Society's annual performance of Handel's Messiah on Sunday, December 4.

"This is going to be our gift from the Symphony Society to the people of Sedalia, of Pettis County, and anyone else who wants to come in," said Byron Matson of the Sedalia Symphony Society. "It will be our annual presentation of the Christmas portion of The Messiah oratorio by George Frideric Handel. It is always a treat to get into the spirit of the Christmas season with this wonderful music from the Baroque era that has come down through the years. This year it will be at a particularly spectacular setting at Sacred Heart Church here in Sedalia."

The performance will be at 3 p.m. There is no charge to attend. The Community Chorus will join the Sedalia Symphony String Ensemble for the event. "The Community Chorus is wonderful, the soloists are wonderful," said Matson. 'For all of these years we've had some wonderful people who have volunteered to come and do this. This is all volunteer, our orchestra members, pianist, organist. Sandy Cordes has conducted this for years, and will be conducting again this year."

Those that would like to attend are encouraged to arrive early. "Don't expect to get a seat if you come at 3 o'clock. It is going to be a huge crowd. It is absolutely free to everyone, so do come early to get a seat."
