SFCC Lady Roadrunners Beat CMU, 4-2

State Fair Community College (4-4) beat the Central Methodist University Lady Eagles 4-2 on Sept. 16 at home.

The Lady Roadrunners extended their winning streak to four matches, a new record for the program.

"We started out the game a little bit nervous," said Beltran. "We were able to settle in pretty quickly after the first goal, that seemed to calm us down. We played really well for a stretch where we were able to keep possession and play within our system."

State Fair got on the scoreboard first with 43 minutes remaining in the opening half, courtesy of a goal from freshman midfielder Diana Martinez of Bolivia with an assist from Beadle.

SFCC added another goal with 14 minutes remaining in the opening half, when Coble found the back of the net for her first goal of the match courtesy of a pass from Kessell.

Central Methodist scored right before the end of the half to make the score 2-1 and scored again with 29 minutes remaining in regulation to tie the score at two.

Coble scored her second goal in the match with an assist from Meza to give her team a 3-2 lead, when she put the ball over the goalkeeper's head with under 12 minutes remaining. Coble finished her hat trick by drawing a penalty kick with less than 10 minutes remaining.

"It was a good performance for our team," said Beltran. "It's great to win four matches in a row. It gives the girls more confidence as we head into Region play. It's a good baseline to have, hopefully it will continue. It was a nice team effort and I'm excited to see how we do in Region play."

Coble led the team with five shots, four of them were on goal. Plascencia got the win in net for SFCC with five saves in the match.
