Officials from State Fair Community College and Park University in Parkville, met on the SFCC Sedalia campus March 3 to sign an academic cooperation agreement to benefit their respective students.

“For 141 years, Park University has maintained a commitment to providing affordable and marketable degree programs,” said Dr. Greg Gunderson, Park University president. “We are excited to partner with State Fair Community College to meet more students’ needs through the transformative power of higher education."

The agreement creates seamless dual admission and reverse transfer processes between SFCC and Park University. Dual admission means that students attending SFCC who intend to transfer to Park University are also admitted to Park while continuing as students at SFCC. Reverse transfer offers seamless associate degree completion by allowing students who attend Park University to transfer credit to SFCC to qualify for an associate degree as long as they completed at least 25 percent of their college credit courses (15 credit hours) at SFCC.

Other features of the partnership include 2+2 articulation agreements in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Psychology, Accounting, and Health Care Administration programs.

SFCC students earning Associate of Applied Science degrees in these programs are ensured their credits will transfer to Park University toward completing bachelor degrees.

The agreement also includes 2+2+1 articulation of credits toward master’s degrees in Business Administration and Health Care Administration.

“We are very pleased to work with Park University because it expands our students’ opportunities to reach their educational goals at another well-established university,” said Dr. Joanna Anderson, SFCC president.

Park University has been a private, nonprofit, institution of higher learning since 1875 and offers more than 40 associate and bachelor degree programs and 16 master’s degree programs. The university also offers five $2,000 scholarships on a competitive basis to participants in 2+2 programs.
