State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer Workplace and Communication Strategies, a 10-week workforce training course on Tuesdays from 1-5 p.m. starting Feb. 4 through April 21.

Classes will not be held March 3 or 17.

This training course equips individuals with communication competencies that result in meeting goals and objectives. Office administrators, customer service and support specialists, administrative assistants, data entry associates, laborers, operators, anyone seeking to upgrade skills, change careers or re-enter the workforce would benefit from this training. This course is eligible for three credits of prior learning (CPL) or competency alignment in State Fair Community College’s BSMT 125 Human Relations course.

Topics covered include effective communication skills with supervisors, coworkers and customers; conflict management; time management; collaboration; first impressions and customer expectations; critical thinking and problem-solving methods; and financial management. Participants also will have hands-on training in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) that could result in earning an MS Office Excel Certification credential.

The class will meet in Fielding Technical Center, Room 253 and costs $899 per person. Tuition assistance is available, including SkillUp scholarships for individuals who are eligible for short-term training programs through the Missouri Department of Social Services.
