SFCC to Sponsor Community Event ‘Jingle on the Green’ November 29

State Fair Community College invites the community to its 11th annual “Jingle on the Green” from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 29 on the Sedalia campus.

Parking will be available in all campus lots.

At 6 p.m., SFCC President Dr. Joanna Anderson and Board of Trustees President Randall D. Eaton will give a welcome and opening remarks in Yeater Learning Center lobby.

The free celebration features thousands of luminarias, 50th anniversary graphic historical timeline display, musical performances, desserts, art-making, and wreath judging. Rowdie and Frosty will roam the campus spreading holiday cheer, and Santa Claus with elves Ginger and Gumdrop will be on the front porch of the Hopkins Center to visit with the children. In the event of inclement weather, Santa will be located inside the Hopkins Center.

Festive desserts will be served in Stauffacher Center’s Parkhurst Student Commons, Daum Museum foyer, Yeater Center lobby, Heckart Center’s Olen Howard Discovery Corridor, Foundation Benefactors Hall of Honor between Fielding and Heckart, Fielding Technical Center, and Hopkins Center.

SFCC’s 50th anniversary graphic timeline will be displayed inside the Goddard Gallery in Stauffacher Center. Outside the gallery, wreaths created by SFCC student clubs and organizations will be displayed, and attendees can vote for their favorite wreath.

Throughout the evening, art-making projects will be offered in Daum Museum of Contemporary Art foyer.  Machine Tool and Industrial Technology faculty and students will demonstrate robots in Fielding Technical Center.

The Campus Store, by Parkhurst Student Commons in Stauffacher Center, will have a “Mitten Tree.” The store will collect mittens and hats of any size until Dec. 7 and donate them to local charities in observance of National Mitten Tree Day. Anyone who donates will receive a special discount on select items in the store that could be up to 50 percent off. Limited quantities of SFCC’s 50th anniversary Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas ornaments, 50th anniversary T-shirts and cookbook, and other merchandise will be for sale. The store will close at 8 p.m.

Volunteers helping with the event include SFCC’s Radiology, Sonography, Nursing, Agriculture, Criminal Justice, Student Missouri State Teachers Association clubs, and TRiO students.

Other services have been provided by Great Western Dining Service Inc.; Fischer Concrete Services LLC; FFO Home; Camp Blue Sky, County Distributing Company Inc.; SFCC Industrial Maintenance and Precision Machining Technology programs; SFCC Music Arts students; SFCC Facilities Management, Marketing and Communications; Daum Museum of Contemporary Art staff and volunteers for the creative art-making projects; Polly Grapes, Campus Store director, who decorates the trees; and Ron Sayer, Music Arts program coordinator and instructor, who coordinates the music performances.
