State Fair Community College’s Phi Beta Lambda and Business program students will hold their 13th annual “Hire Attire” professional clothing sale for students and the community April 19-22 in the Thompson Conference Center in the Heckart Science and Allied Health Center on the Sedalia campus.

"Many college students live on tight budgets, which makes it difficult for them to acquire appropriate clothing for interviews and the workplace,” said Laura Taylor, adjunct instructor and chair of the Hire Attire Committee.

Hire Attire helps them build a work wardrobe or simply buy clothes for daily wear. Hundreds of SFCC students have been able to purchase affordable, quality clothing for job interviews, the workplace and even graduations, weddings and other special occasions.

“The sale is also a great chance for the public to purchase quality clothing, and this year we’ve added two more days to the sale so more people can benefit and more money can be raised for scholarships.

Proceeds from the sale are used in two ways to support students. One $500 Hire Attire Award will be given to a graduating AAS student to buy clothing or technology tools. The remaining funds will be added to an endowed scholarship fund that will be awarded to a student in the fall.

The Hire Attire sale will open to SFCC students at 12:30 p.m. April 19. An outdoor fashion show by students modeling clothing from the sale will be at noon on Lamm’s Landing in front of the Stauffacher Center for the Fine Arts. In case of inclement weather, the show will be in Parkhurst Student Commons in Stauffacher.

The sale will open to the public from 4:30-7:30 p.m. April 19; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 20 and 21; and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 in the Thompson Conference Center.

Each item will cost $2 on April 19 and $1 April 20-22. On April 22 the sale will feature buy one item, get one free. The sale will feature jackets, slacks, shirts, ties, blouses, skirts, suits, dresses, sweaters, shoes, purses, and accessories.

For every 10 items purchased, customers can enter drawings for $50 gift cards throughout the sale. A total of 15 winners will be drawn, and they do not need to be present to win.
