State Fair Community College Roadrunners sophomore guard Andre (A.J.) Walker has been named an honorable mention All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Men’s Basketball Committee.

The Kansas City native is the 11th Roadrunner to receive All-American honors from the NJCAA and the first since 2016.

During his sophomore season, Walker helped the Roadrunners to a 19-10 record and a spot in the Region 16 tournament semifinal round. In his only season as a Roadrunner, Walker averaged 13.4 points per game, shot 37.6 percent from the three-point line and almost 80 percent from the free-throw line. He was ranked 10th in assists in NJCCA Division I with 7.0 per game. Walker pulled down 5.1 rebounds and registered 2.3 steals per game. He started in 27 games for the Roadrunners.

Walker was named to the NJCAA All-Region 16 first team and the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference first team. He has also earned a prominent place in SFCC basketball history. Averaging 7.0 assists per game this season, Walker now holds the number one spot in the top-10 single season assists record in the history of the program based on available statistics. Walker also ranks sixth in steals in school history with 2.30 per game.

“A.J. was one of the first recruits we brought to campus when I came to SFCC in May,” said Head Coach Matt Brown. “All the accolades that A.J. has received are well-deserved because he has worked for years to get the opportunity to earn a scholarship. He is making college visits and deciding soon where he will continue his education. I think this honor is a reflection of his hard work as well as the success we had as a team this year.”
