Netflix series "Sheriff Justice" is set to be filmed in Sedalia, Missouri.
Sedalia filming for the series was scheduled to begin on June 13th at the Nucor Pavilion on the Missouri State Fairgrounds but was canceled due to storms.
Filming is now scheduled for the Courthouse on July 25th. The series is intended to be a prequel to the 1977 film, Smokey and the Bandit.

Sedalia was reportedly chosen as a filming location because of the town’s historic architecture and small-town feel.

The Pettis County Commission recently approved a Courthouse Use Form for filming in the courthouse.
Pettis County Presiding Commissioner, Bill Taylor, Western Associate Commissioner, Mark Edwards, and Pettis County Eastern Commissioner, Israel Baeza, spoke about what the show being filmed at the courthouse means for them.

“Well, we have courthouse use forms. If anybody wants to use the lawn or whatever, that way, we have control over the use of the courthouse. And they want it filmed in front. They're supposed to have done it last weekend, but with the storm, they canceled it,” Bill Taylor said.

Mark Edwards continued on to explain why the form is needed.
“We have to use forms. You have to use those. Otherwise. We could have somebody down there with some type of event going on. Well, they're trying to film,” Edwards said.
Israel Baeza mentioned the importance of having the show filmed in Sedalia.

“The cool thing about the fact that they chose this location is, for one, they highlight our community, but also, I think that as Pettis Countians, we should all be very proud that we do have a pretty beautiful courthouse, and I think a lot of us are proud of that courthouse. I think that'll be a good opportunity to showcase it to potentially nationally,” Baeza said.
“I think it's beyond the courthouse, too. It's the whole downtown. You know, you look at the Trust building across the street, you know, with the panoramic and the Bothwell. It's a pretty good-looking downtown,” Edwards added.
Sheriff Justice is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in May of 2027.
