Smith-Cotton’s Lopez to Play Soccer at Avila
Jonathan Lopez, a three-year varsity player on the Smith-Cotton High boys soccer team, has signed to play at Avila University in Kansas City.
Lopez, the son of Esmeralda and Saul Lopez, of Sedalia, was an Honorable Mention All-West Central Conference pick in 2016 and was a member of the 2014 Tigers team that went to the Class 3 Final Four and finished third. He finished his high school career with 25 goals and 18 assists.
S-C Boys Soccer Head Coach Ethan Weller said: “Jonathan is a good soccer player and an even better person. Jonathan is a very hard-nosed player who plays very physical. He is a very skilled player as well, and I feel he will have a lot of success at the next level. I look forward in watching Jonathan continue his education and soccer career."
