S-C’s Carlos Earns Music Scholarship to UCM
Smith-Cotton High School senior Josue Carlos has accepted a scholarship to perform in
the band program at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
Carlos, the son of Maria and Cecilio Carlos, is a four-year letter winner in the Smith-Cotton band program, where he has served as the Low Brass Section Leader. He has earned Gold ratings at the District Solo and Small Ensemble competitions. He was selected for the All-District Band and All-District Jazz Band, and earned a callback
audition for the All-State Jazz Band.
S-C Director of Bands Andrew Fischer said, “I have continued to be impressed by Josue
throughout his high school career. He is a rare combination of a naturally talented
musician but also a very hard worker. That combination has allowed him to accomplish
so much in his four years at S-C and I can't wait to see what he will do at UCM and
beyond.”
