A St. Louis man drowned Tuesday morning in the Mississippi River.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 75-year-old Louis Bodway entered the river, near the River City Casino, just after 9 a.m., and his body was recovered on Wednesday after it was discovered floating downstream, near the shore, below the 172-mile marker.

Bodway was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday morning by a St. Louis County Police Department detective.

The body was taken to the St. Louis County Morgue by Lonning Mortuary Service.
