WASHINGTON (CHRISTOPHER S. RUGABER, AP Economics Writer) — U.S. builders broke ground on homes at the fastest pace in more than five years, evidence the housing recovery is accelerating despite higher mortgage rates.

The Sedalia 200 School Board met in a special public session at the Board of Education Office on Thursday (Nov. 21) to approve a bid on the initial dirt work on the new stadium at Smith-Cotton High School. The board approved a bid of $387,246.50 from Nemaha Landscape Construction, Inc. out of Nebraska.

The Sedalia Public Library has officially been closed for repairs. According to City Administrator Gary Edwards, the library will be closed until further notice due to ongoing structural repairs.
