Demolition

For those waiting for action on the dilapidated buildings in downtown Sedalia, the sight of tumbling bricks on the corner of West Second Street and Osage is a welcome sight. On Monday morning (April 28), crews moved in and began dismantling the two buildings on the northeast corner, just across the street from City Hall.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A massive federal complex that has operated in south Kansas City since World War II will be demolished.

The old Wood's Store next to the Smith-Cotton Jr. High was recently sold. CVS Pharmacy is said to be moving in to that location, but decided to start from scratch. This week, Poort Excavating fenced off the location over the weekend and tore down the structure today (April 30).  You can see photos of the demolition in this slideshow provided by Kevin Walker.

The Missouri State Fair finished the demolition of Mango Jack's today (April 3). Last year the Fair decided that it was time to pursue the master plan, which called for the installation of handicapped accessible restrooms somewhere on the main strip...

Crews have blocked off South Ohio Avenue between 2nd Street and southbound to Gazebo Park in downtown Sedalia in preparation to demolish several buildings damaged by a fire on Dec. 14, 2012.  The demolitions comes at the recommendation of an engineer who deemed the buildings unstable and dangerous.

The Sedalia City Council has approved a bid to finish the demolition of buildings located at 203 and 204 West Main Street. The decision was made at a city council meeting on Monday evening (September 24).
