It was a beautiful evening to welcome home the 12th Honor Flight in Sedalia, Mo. They were escorted by a group of about 75 local motorcycle riders from Marshall Junction to Sedalia on Tuesday night (Sept. 3).

The Korean War may have happened over 60 years ago and may be called the “Forgotten War,” but it was remembered by those who gathered at the Sedalia VFW on Sunday afternoon (June 23). Eighteen Korean War vets were on hand to be recognized for their service by the Sedalia VFW. The Sedalia VFW Post 2591 honored War on Terrorism Veterans with a lunch, pie auction and ceremony on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 24) at the Sedalia VFW Building. The lunch consisted of ham n' beans that was purchased and prepared by post member Bob Rinehart.

The national unemployment rate spiked following the 2008 financial crash, and it has remained stubbornly high ever since. Unfortunately, it has been even worse for returning American service members. Today, though, Walmart announced a plan to hire 100,000 veterans over the next five years.

Townsquare Media's 7th fundraiser for the Show Me Honor Flight raised $19,000, making it our most successful fundraiser to date.

The MO Kids Outdoors Fishing With a Vet had an awesome turnout last weekend!  The weather was great, and we had about 100 kids come enjoy the great outdoors.  Everyone went home with a prize package including fishing information, tackle and certificates from DQ.

Bow season is here and I’m lovin' the weather. I got a call this week from Harold Ray and he has something for you to win. Motorists may have seen a large covered wagon drawn by two horses traveling southbound on South Limit this morning (September 19).  The wagon was passing though Sedalia on a journey across the country known as the Freedom Trail Ride, honoring the fallen members of the military and supporting children with disabilities.

A new report from the CDC finds that men who’ve served in the military carry a heavier health burden than civilians — in fact, veterans are significantly more likely to have two or more chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
