‘The Embassy’ Makes $50K Request of Sedalia Council
Representatives of The Embassy, a non-denominational, faith-based, residential restoration organization for men, requested $50,000 from Sedalia City Council Monday night.
Ann Graff, president of The Embassy Board, gave a 20-minute presentation along with Executive Director Jason McClain and House Manager Brandon Stoner before making the monetary request.
Graff stated the organization wants $50,000 of opioid settlement money the City has received. City Administrator Kelvin Shaw noted that there is currently $103,248.41 in the City's opioid bank account, and $65,748.41 of that is available in uncommitted funds.
An additional $175,000 in disputed funds should be released to the City very soon, Shaw said.
The Embassy currently has two facilities in Sedalia – one at 322 W. 7th and one at 602 South Moniteau.
Graff stated that both structures are old and in need of renovation. She said she would like to make the outside of the houses more presentable.
Repairs need to be made to a chain link fence, gazebo, storage shed, soffits & gutters, as well as inside repairs.

Graff said the organization is being gifted a 10,000-square-foot facility in Pettis County from a church. “We're currently working through those legal aspects of that gift and hope to get that finalized before too long,” she said, adding that plans call for moving the intake facility to the church in the county, where the men will have limited contact with the outside world and be able to make new friends and mentors and leave their old life behind.
The two existing facilities will remain and become honor houses, Graff noted.
A decision regarding the $50K request will be made at the next Council meeting.
