Traveling I-44 Through Central Missouri Will Be Messy This Month
The Missouri Department of Transportation is warning motorists that if they're planning to travel through Central Missouri on Interstate 44 in August to expect lane closures and multiple work zones.
MoDOT Central District Assistant District Engineer Randy Aulbur says in a MoDOT press release that those traveling on Interstate 44 in Pulaski and Phelps Counties should plan their trips in advance. He says, “With a lane closure in each of the work zones, we are expecting traffic flow to be impacted significantly. To help alleviate some of these delays, we ask those traveling on I-44 to consider using alternate routes, or prepare extra time for expected delays.”
One of the projects in Phelps and Crawford Counties includes pavement repair and replacement from Rolla's city limits to Sugar Tree Road with lane closures. Additionally the I-44 bridges over Trophy Lane east of St. Robert.
Overnight lane closures on Interstate 44 are part of the work as well as the Route U bridge over I-44 east of St. James is also part of the work being done.
The Missouri Department of Transportation encourages motorists to keep up with roadwork in the areas they travel by checking the MoDOT Traveler Information Map, and or downloading their app onto their phone.
