Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It is designed to show students, parents, educators, and their communities that manufacturing in the 21st century is often clean, high-tech, fast-paced, and involves the production of advanced products that we use every day.

The Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce has hosted Manufacturing Day for several years and looks forward to sharing this information with local students again this year. "Students and teachers were surprised by the range of career pathways and technology brought together to facilitate success in a large business," said David Richner, Integrated Academics Instructor, Warrensburg Area Career Center.

Recent studies by the Manufacturing Institute (MI) revealed that although the manufacturing industry is viewed as increasingly important to the economy, public perceptions of the industry are not in line with the current reality.

The progressively high-tech nature of manufacturing is providing cutting-edge and transferable skills to its employees and establishing forward-thinking, engaging, and digitally enabled work as the norm. Over the next decade, four million manufacturing jobs will need to be filled in the U.S. These job openings will be in high-skilled, high-tech positions and leadership positions.
