Warrensburg's New Fire Chief Is Long Time Warrensburg Firefighter

Warrensburg Fire Department Battalion Chief Kenneth Jennings has been named the new fire chief according to a release from the City of Warrensburg.

“The Warrensburg Fire Department has a reputation of training and developing dedicated professionals, and Ken Jennings has demonstrated his skills as a firefighter and leader in our department. Chief Jennings will honor this history and ensure high-quality fire service and protection delivery to the community,” said Danielle Dulin, City Manager

Warrensburg conducted a national search for a new chief that netted 30 well-qualified applicants. The leading candidates participated in a highly competitive and comprehensive interview process including many panel interviews with other department directors and stakeholders.

Jenning's fire service career has been spent in the Warrensburg area. His career began as a junior firefighter for the Johnson County Fire Protection District in 1999, and he joined the Warrensburg Fire Department as a firefighter three years later.

Throughout his career, Jennings has continued to serve both organizations moving up the ranks to firefighter EMT, firefighter specialist, lieutenant, captain, and battalion chief.

Additionally, he is involved in many professional associations including the Professional Fire and Fraud Investigators Association, President of the Johnson Cunty Fire Investigation Unit and he has authored publications for the International Associations of Fire Chiefs.

“I am honored and excited to continue my service to the Warrensburg community in my new role as Fire Chief. I am committed to working for and with the men and women of the Warrensburg Fire Department as we stand ready to protect the lives and property of our citizens,” said Jennings in the release from the City.

Jennings will begin serving as Fire Chief on January 1, 2022, and will command Warrensburg's staff of 50 firefighters.
