Every holiday season, when I was growing up, I looked forward to the Charlie Brown specials on television.  It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and of course, The Charlie Brown Christmas.

Perhaps many of us have the specials on DVD or Blue-Ray, but there was still something magical about seeing them on TV as a family.

As many of you may know, Apple TV+ became the exclusive home to the franchise in 2020 and will be the only outlet airing the iconic specials. The streaming platform partnered with PBS in the past but has retained exclusive rights for 2022.

Now, last year you would get 1 date to watch it on TV, so you could record it if you missed it and watch it later.  Not an option this year. These famous and iconic specials will only be available to stream.

Now I am not suggesting to get Apple TV just to watch the specials.  I mean if you have them, great.  Sit back and enjoy.   Apple TV+ said it will provide special free windows for everyone to watch the holiday programs, even without a subscription.

For the record, here are your dates to stream the specials:

  • “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” will be available for free Oct. 28 – Oct. 31.
  • Anyone can stream “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” Nov. 23 – Nov. 27.
  • “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be available to all Dec. 22 – Dec. 25.

If you happen to have Apple TV, a few holiday specials will be added that you might enjoy.  “I Want a Dog for Christmas” and “Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales” will be added to the platform starting Dec. 2.  By the way, this holiday you can celebrate 'Peanuts' creator Charles M Schultz by getting some Forever Stamps to mail your Christmas cards.  You can click HERE for that article.  Happy Holidays!
