News Release From the Office of Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Mittlehauser

Aaron Argenbright, 33, Sedalia, was sentenced to serve 21 years in prison on drug sales and sex offender registration violation.

On April 16, detectives with the Sedalia Police Department’s STING Unit witnessed a drug transaction on Fourth Street.  Detectives found methamphetamine in the possession of the drug purchaser and then questioned the defendant, who admitted he had made the sale.

At that time, the defendant was also arrested on a warrant, issued about a week earlier, for violating the sex offender registration law.  The defendant’s statutory rape conviction requires him to report quarterly to the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department.  He failed to report as required in mid-March.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the offenses in August and a sentence assessment report was ordered.  At the conclusion of the contested sentencing hearing Thursday morning, the defendant received sentences of 14 years for sale of a controlled substance near a public school and 7 years for the sex offender registration violation.  Circuit Judge Robert L. Koffman followed the prosecutor’s recommendation that the sentences run consecutively to each other for a total sentence of 21 years.
