School district benefactor Sue Heckart unveils the sign on the Dr. Harriet Wolfe Media Center at Smith-Cotton High School. Heckart used naming rights she acquired to honor Wolfe, who is retiring June 30.

Sedalia School District Names High School Library in Honor of Dr. Harriet Wolfe

The Sedalia School District will see a changing of the guard from one superintendent to another at the end of June. Dr. Harriet Wolfe will be leaving the district and Assistant Superintendent Brad Pollitt will be the new superintendent. The last school board meeting for Wolfe was June 17, and she was surprised with the honor of having the library at the new high school named after her. The Smith-Cotton library is now known as the Dr. Harriet Wolfe Media Center.

The Sedalia School Board voted on Monday night (June 17) to issue a Request for Proposal for seeking a construction manager who would oversee the planning, design and construction of a new stadium for the Smith-Cotton High School. This new stadium would replace the existing Jennie Jaynes Stadium.

Missouri State Fair Aims to Increase Canned Food Collections in 2013

The Missouri State Fair will be increasing its efforts to collect canned food this year as it joins in a challenge presented by its industry trade association.  Fair Director Mark Wolfe said today that members of the International Association of Fairs and Festivals have been invited to participate in its campaign, Dream Big, which has set an industry-wide goal of collecting 20 million pounds of food at fairs and festivals held in 2013.
