Alvin Emmett Wombles, 94, of Sedalia, died Saturday morning, December 19, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

He was born August 15, 1921, in Clear Creek, son of Albert and Della Todd Wombles. On July 28, 1981, in Sedalia, he married Mary Ellen Wombles, who preceded him in death on March 17, 2005.

Alvin was a truck driver. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2591. He enjoyed working on cars.

Surviving are a son, Donald Lee Wombles; two stepdaughters, Linda Hunter Rowe and Lola Hunter Dickerson; a stepson, Eddie Hunter; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Clarence "Sonny" Weathers; and two stepsons, Dennis and Clarence Hunter.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, at Highland Sacred Gardens, with Jeff Page officiating.
