Annie Sims, 71, of Sedalia, passed away on Saturday July 19, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 24, 2014 at 10 am at Alexander-May Funeral Home in Sedalia. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday July 23, 2014 at the Funeral Home.

Annie Ruth Sims was born on August 24, 1942 in Polk County, MS to Cora and Chandler Purnell.

She married her husband, Arthur Sims Sr. on January 6, 1962. Shortly after, she attended college at Central Missouri State University where she obtained an Associates degree in Business.

She was a Mary Kay consultant for over 30 years; and for several years she served a care taker, an accountant, and a sales associate for the Lockett family and their businesses. She served on the NAACP board (Sedalia) for several years as the Treasurer. She was a member of THE WORD church in Jefferson City, MO; and served as a co-pastor.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cora Purnell; her father, Chandler Purnell; and her son, Chandler Anthony Sims.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Sims, Sr. (of Sedalia, MO); her daughter, Angela Johnson (of Yeadon, PA); her son Arthur J. Sims (of Sedalia, MO); her daughter Roxanne Combs (of Columbia, MO); and her son Donovan Sims (of Sedalia, MO).

She has 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; daughters and sons -in-laws; and a host of nephews and nieces.

She was a loving wife, mother, and friend, who took great joy in helping others no matter the need, and will be dearly missed by all.
