Kids, if there's anything I've noticed about Sedalia, it's that people here care about their neighbors.  And sometimes it can be something manifested in small ways - like helping shovel their walk, or checking on a neighbor, or donating to a local charity.

Well now, we've got another way that you can help and it doesn't cost anything but your time.  If you’re interested in meeting new people and giving back to the community, Bothwell Regional Health Center has a place for you. Volunteer opportunities are open with the American Red Cross and the Bothwell Auxiliary.

Kids, I'm the person who does a lot of the updates for our events and such on the website. So I try to keep things pretty current around here.  I'll tell you one thing, though: while I do add all the charitable and fundraising events people organize around here,  I am a sucker for a Blood Drive.  I'll always make sure people know all about those.

Kids, it's getting to be that time again.  If you've got a teenager around in your life, you're probably hearing about the prom.  It's a couple of months away now, but of course you've got to do the preparation.

So, the big question is, where can you go to get the dress?  Where SHOULD you go?  I'll put a few options out here, and then you guys can let me know what you think in our survey.

I know sometimes it can be a little strange trying to figure out just what there is to do around here.  I sometimes see people on Facebook or other social media asking, "What are you guys doing tonight?" Well, I think sometimes people forget about all the good community get-togethers around here just because they're not looking for them.

So, I thought I'd share something I got in our Community Calendar submissions this week.  The Shriners are having another great dinner this week.  You know you always see the Shriners in parades and stuff?  They're always helping out around town.  So why not stop by and help them help others while you eat some tasty food?

Kids, I gotta be up front with you: I was never a Girl Scout.  I barely made it into the Brownies, and I didn't go far after that.  But, I did learn about the joys of Girl Scout Cookiedom.

This is something I'm sure everyone is familiar with, and everyone has a fiery opinion on. This is hotly contested year after year, and it might be time to draw a line in the sand.  It might be time to take a stand for your favorite Girl Scout Cookie.

Kids, this weekend I got to spend some time out at America's Car Mart.  They do a pretty regular Customer Appreciation Day, and this time was a big event.  Not only did they have great deals on down payments, but they also had some lunch catered in, free T-shirts and monster trucks!
