Gov. Nixon to Join President Obama in Warrensburg

Gov. Jay Nixon will join President Barack Obama at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg on Wednesday July 24. UCM was the foundation for the Governor’s Innovation Campus initiative, which offers students accelerated degree programs and apprenticeships in high-demand fields, reducing the time it takes to earn a degree and cutting student debt.

White-Tail Deer Management Workshop Planned in Warrensburg

A free workshop on white-tail deer management will be offered by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) from 12:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, on the University of Central Missouri campus in Warrensburg, Mo. The workshop is open to anyone interested in deer management, but it will be especially helpful to property owners or managers interested in improving habitat and understanding trends in the state’s white-tail deer population.

Warrensburg Pine Street Bars Pass Undercover Alcohol Compliance Checks

The Warrensburg Police Department and the University of Central Missouri’s Department of Public Safety conducted alcohol compliance checks of local businesses that possess a liquor license on June 28, 2013. The purpose of compliance checks is to assess the level of availability of alcohol to minors within the community and prevent the sale of alcohol to minors. Underage buyers, working under the supervision of local law enforcement, went into businesses that possesses a liquor license and attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages.

State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners Assistant Coach Buck Scheel has been named the new assistant women’s basketball coach at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Scheel helped SFCC to a 68-28 record during his three-year tenure with the Lady Roadrunners.

Missouri State Fair Box Office Now Open for 2013

The State Fair Box Office opens at noon today (June 24) and has tickets available for purchase to all the 2013 Fair concerts and events. The Box Office is open noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and will expand its hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily during the Fair.  The Box Office, located on the fairgrounds in Sedalia, also has Governor’s Ham Breakfast tickets available for $25 each.
