A 30-year old Springfield man was injured in a Benton County vehicle wreck, after he reportedly fell asleep.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, on Highway 65 at Eichler Drive.

According to the online crash report, a 2012 Mazda and a 2004 John Deere Tractor were both traveling south on Highway 65. The driver of the Mazda reportedly fell asleep, then overtook and struck the rear of the tractor.

The driver of the Mazda, 30-year old Charles D. Goodin, of Springfield, suffered moderate injuries in the accident. He was taken to Cox South Hospital, by air ambulance, for treatment.

The report indicates that the driver of the John Deer tractor, 27-year old Clinton Gerken, of Lincoln, was not injured.
