Betty Louise Young, 83, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Winchester Meadows.

She was born September 26, 1930, in Jefferson City, daughter of William F. Walsh and Lola DeFaye Uptegrove Walsh Ballew. On March 8, 1949, in Jefferson City, she married Thomas W. Young, who preceded her in death on September 8, 1995.

Betty enjoyed sewing, music, and working in her yard and garden. Her greatest love was her family and making a home for them. She especially loved her grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and kept it until the end. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three children, Cynthia L. Langston, of Bartlett, TN, Shari Ann Leeman, and her husband, Jeff, of Sedalia, and Christopher L. Young, and his wife, Ann, of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Eric Langston, Jenni (Leeman) Kirkruff, Wendy Langston, Ryan Leeman, Caroline Young and Bridget Young; and one great-grandson, Brody Leeman.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Richard D. Langston.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 2, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Tom Howe, John Pollitt, Dr. David Howe, Allen Uptegrove, Glen Webb, Dr. William Woolery, Carla Eding and her dear friend, Cookie Poole.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice.

The family would like to thank the staff of Winchester Meadows for going above and beyond in the care and love they gave Betty in her last days.
