Authorities in southeast Missouri believe the body recovered from a pond could be that of a man missing since April.

The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reports that the body and a vehicle were recovered Friday from a pond near the small town of Fisk in Stoddard County, near the Butler County line. Two fishermen spotted the vehicle and called police.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs says investigators are trying to determine if the body is that of 50-year-old Timothy Harbin of rural Butler County.

Relatives reported Harbin missing April 5. He was last seen April 2 at a convenience store in Fisk, about a mile from where the body was found.
