CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Officials in Cape Girardeau must come up with a 20 percent match of federal grants to fix sinkholes. A section of road that includes the bridge over Cape LaCroix Creek has been closed since 2013 due to sinkholes in the area. The Missouri Department of Transportation offers low-interest loans, but city leaders are hopeful that Cape Girardeau will be eligible for emergency relief funds.
