A combination of turnovers, missed opportunities and a 2nd quarter offensive barrage of points put up by the Nixa Eagles led to an opening season loss 47-7  for the Smith-Cotton football Tigers Friday night in Nixa.

Smith-Cotton Tigers Open the 2012 Football Season On the Road on August 24

The Smith-Cotton Tigers open their 2012 football season in Southwest Missouri at Nixa on Friday, August 24 to battle the Eagles. Head coach Mark Johnson, in his 14th year at Smith-Cotton, will lead a young team with only seven seniors and the balance of underclassmen, including four freshmen on the varsity roster.

New CPIFL League Approves Commissioner James Bain and New Executive Board

Earlier this week, we reported that the Sioux City Bandits formed a new indoor football league, called the Champions Professional Indoor Football League.  While no formal announcement has been made other than the Bandits and a team from Kansas City committing to the CPIFL, it looks like the pieces are being put in place.  The CPIFL last week met in Council Bluffs and they voted unanimously to appoint James Bain, as Commissioner.   Bain accepted and officially began his duties on August 11.
