It’s the most wonderful time of the year. School is back in session. Everyone’s favorite team is undefeated. Every fan just knows their team is underrated and will be better than expected. And we can finally stop focusing on offseason scandals and politics. Yes, college football is finally back.

August 26, 2012 92.3 BOB-FM is an affiliate of the Kansas City Chiefs, and each year we get invited to Kansas Cit Chiefs Radio Affiliates Day, which usually happens in pre-season. Normally I don't get the chance to go because I'm at the Missouri State Fair or covering high school football, but this year with Al McCurdy bringing us Smith-Cotton Football, I finally got the chance to go.
August 23, 2012 Last week we reported that the Mid-Missouri Outlaws would be more than likely joining the Champions Professional Football League. Yesterday (August 22), Outlaws co-owner Ethan Henson held a press conference at the Celebration Center formally announcing that they would join the league as one of the founding teams.
The Smith-Cotton Tigers open their 2012 football season in Southwest Missouri at Nixa on Friday, August 24 to battle the Eagles. Head coach Mark Johnson, in his 14th year at Smith-Cotton, will lead a young team with only seven seniors and the balance of underclassmen, including four freshmen on the varsity roster.

August 17, 2012 Earlier this week, we reported that the Sioux City Bandits formed a new indoor football league, called the Champions Professional Indoor Football League. While no formal announcement has been made other than the Bandits and a team from Kansas City committing to the CPIFL, it looks like the pieces are being put in place. The CPIFL last week met in Council Bluffs and they voted unanimously to appoint James Bain, as Commissioner. Bain accepted and officially began his duties on August 11.
August 15, 2012 Shortly after the Sioux City Bandits won the APFL Football Championship over the Council Bluffs Express, the Bandits announced they would spearhead a new league, called the Champions Professional Indoor Football League. As of last week, the league held meetings in Council Bluffs, Iowa to discuss league matters and franchises.
