Charles Everett McGaugh, Jr., 78, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

He was born November 8, 1937, in Carrollton, son of the late Charles E. McGaugh, Sr. and Opal Inez Lynn McGaugh, and was raised by his stepmom, Edna McGaugh.

Mr. McGaugh was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran and was involved in many organizations, including 40 & 8 Voiture 333, VFW Posts 2591 and 5789, American Legion Post 131, Military Order of the Cootie, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17, American Vets Post 157, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 032, and Missouri Veterans Association. He was also a member of Moose Lodge 1494, president of the neighborhood council at the Veterans Home, and enjoyed calling Bingo. He worked as a security guard before retirement.

He is survived by one son, Lanty R. McGaugh (Kathleen), of Sedalia; one daughter, Susan E. Vincent (Troy), of Bartlesville, OK; three granddaughters, Shannon, Celine and Kayleigh; one brother, Richard McGaugh, of CA; and one stepsister, Eva Wright, of Bosworth.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda.

Graveside services and burial with military honors will be 3 p.m. Thursday, December 10, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with Jeff Page officiating.

A 40 & 8 service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, with a visitation following until 1:30 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
