So I spent the last day of my short staycation on the back porch enjoying the warmth of the sun and lounging in my new lawn chair enjoying a cocktail. Tonight, I will need to bring those new chairs inside as winter, if we're lucky, gets ready to make its last stand in Missouri.

First, if you're off today, or the wind doesn't kick up too early this evening I'd highly encourage you to take advantage of the sunshine and a high temperature which will top out around 80. Enjoy a cocktail on the porch. Take your sweetie to the ice cream shop. Play ball with the kids. Soak up some sun.

Because here's the deal. Tonight we have a slight chance of some showers after 5:00 PM CST, it might be somewhat breezy today, but nothing too bad. Tonight, we're under a Wind Advisory from 6:00 PM CST, until 3:00 AM CST tomorrow, that would be Wednesday, February 28.

Expect northwest winds 20-30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour tonight. The National Weather Service advises that motorists use extra caution while driving, especially if driving a high-profile vehicle. Additionally, outdoor objects should be secured. The National Weather Service also warns that tree limbs can be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Of course, the wind is only one part of the story. Tonight, a mix of rain and snow showers mixed with some sleet before 1:00 AM CST is expected, followed by a chance of snow showers between 1:00 AM - 5:00 AM CST. It will also be cold with an overnight low of 21 expected. The National Weather Service Kansas City Missouri's Facebook page says we could see wind chills around zero tomorrow morning.

The temperature swing over 24 hours is a big part of the story.

So what can we expect weather-wise tomorrow, Wednesday, February 28? It will be sunny and breezy with a high near 38. Winds will decrease tomorrow afternoon and there will be one more cold night before we start our next warm-up.

Thursday's high will be 54, 59 on Friday, and another weekend on tap that I would, at this point, characterize as perfect. Saturday it will be sunny and 75, and Sunday sunny and breezy with a high of 79. Yeah, I think it was a smart move to get those lawn chairs. I anticipate getting some sun, enjoying a cocktail, and listening to Mix 92.3 on my back porch next weekend. All we gotta do is get through the next 48 hours.
