COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Columbia police say one person might be responsible for up to nine crimes including break-ins and one rape.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports (the crimes were reported between June 29 and Sunday.

Assistant Chief Jill Schlude says the suspect description, method and time of the crimes indicate they are related. She says the suspect's main motivation seems to be sexually assaulting his victims. All victims are women aged 18 to their early 20s.

In each incident, the suspect entered through an unlocked door. He is described as a white or Middle Eastern male in his 20s with a thin to medium build and medium height. It's also possible the suspect could be Hispanic or Latino.

Schlude said it's likely there have been more break-ins that have not been reported.
