Crystal City Couple Injured in Water Bike Collision on Mississippi River

A Crystal City couple were injured in a water bike accident that occurred Saturday evening on the Mississippi River.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1997 GTX Seadoo, piloted by 40-year-old Tim T. Nguyen of Crsytal City, was on the Mississippi River in Jefferson County at the 147-mile marker at 6:30 p.m., when the driver failed to keep a lookout and struck a wind dyke.

Tim suffered minor injuries, while his passenger, 45-year-old Katie T. Nguyen, also of Crystal City, suffered serious injuries.

Tim was treated on scene by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance personnel and released, while Katie was transported to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for treatment.

The Seadoo was totaled.
